Affiliate Disclosure
The short version
AquaAirPure earns a commission when you buy an air purifier, water filter, or replacement cartridge through some of the links on this site. You pay the same price either way. We do not accept payment from a manufacturer in exchange for a recommendation, a ranking position, or a positive review.
If you never click one of those links, the site still works exactly the same and nothing is hidden from you.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a normal product link with a tracking code attached. If you click it and buy something within the retailer’s tracking window, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. The retailer takes that commission out of its own margin. It is not added to your price, and it does not affect your warranty, returns, or customer support.
Which programs we participate in
- Amazon Associates. We show in the article/page “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”
- Impact and CJ
We add and remove programs over time. This page is the current list, and we update it when the list changes.
What commissions do not buy
To be specific, because vague promises of independence are meaningless:
- No paid placements. A brand cannot buy a spot in a “best of” list, a higher ranking, or a badge.
- No review approval. Brands do not see reviews, ratings, or verdicts before publication, and they do not get to request changes afterward beyond factual corrections.
- No commission-weighted rankings. Products that pay a higher commission rate do not get ranked higher. Several products we recommend earn us nothing at all.
- No pay-to-remove. We do not remove criticism, downgrade a competitor, or delete an unfavourable finding in exchange for money or continued access.
- No fake urgency. We do not invent scarcity, fake countdown timers, or fake “price about to rise” claims to push a click.
If any of this ever changes, this page changes with it, and so does the disclosure on the affected articles.
How we choose what to recommend
Our selection process is described in full on Editorial Policy and Standards, How We Test Air Purifiers, and How We Test Water Filters. In summary, we prioritise verifiable evidence over marketing copy: AHAM Verifide CADR listings, CARB certification for portable air cleaners sold in California, NSF/ANSI and WQA certification listings for water filters, published lab results, manufacturer spec sheets, and long-run ownership costs such as replacement filter pricing.
Where a manufacturer makes a claim we cannot verify in a certification database or an independent test, we say so in the article rather than repeating it as fact.
Samples, review units, and gifts
We accept review units: We sometimes accept review units from manufacturers. When an article covers a product that was supplied free of charge, we say so in that article. Accepting a unit never comes with any agreement about what the coverage will say, and we do not accept units that come with conditions attached. We keep the Review unit for testing it for longer period of time so that we can provide our users a exclusive information.
As of 20/09/2026, our articles are research based and rely on published specifications, certification listings, and independent third party test results rather than our own hands-on testing. We label these articles accordingly and do not describe them as hands-on tests.
We do not accept cash payments, gift cards, free trips, or any other consideration in exchange for coverage.
Sponsored content
We do publish sponsored posts, paid guest posts, or paid link insertions. It will be labelled as Sponsored Content at the top.
Prices and availability
Prices, stock status, and bundle contents change constantly. Any price mentioned on this site is the price we saw at the time of writing or the most recent update, and it may be out of date by the time you read it.
Always confirm the current price and the exact model number on the retailer’s page before buying. Replacement filter prices in particular can change more often than the price of the appliance itself, which is why we treat filter cost as part of the total cost of ownership rather than a footnote.
Reviews and testimonials
We do not write, buy, sell, or publish fake reviews. We do not publish reviews written by a manufacturer or its agents as though they came from independent customers, and we do not suppress criticism. This is both our policy and the law: the Federal Trade Commission’s Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, published in the Federal Register on 22 August 2024 and effective 21 October 2024, prohibits fake or AI generated reviews, undisclosed insider reviews, buying positive or negative reviews, review suppression, and fake social media indicators, and it allows the FTC to seek civil penalties per violation.
Where we quote real owner reviews from retail sites or forums, we describe them as owner reports, not as our own findings, because we cannot verify who wrote them.
Why this page exists
The FTC’s Endorsement Guides require that a material connection between a reviewer and a seller, including affiliate commissions, be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. The FTC’s own guidance is direct about placement: “The closer the disclosure is to your recommendation, the better,” and a disclosure that a reader has to click through to find is, in the FTC’s words, easily avoidable and therefore not enough.
That means this page alone does not satisfy the rules. It is the long explanation. The short disclosure has to appear on the page you are actually reading, near the links themselves.
How to reach us
Questions about how we make money, or a correction to anything on this page, can go to aquairpure@gmail.com or through our Contact page. We publish corrections rather than editing quietly, as described in our Editorial Policy.
Implementation notes for the site owner
These notes are for you, not for publication. Delete this section before publishing the page, or keep it in a private doc.
1. The on-page disclosure text to place near links
Put a visible disclosure at the top of every page that contains affiliate links, above the first link and above the fold, not only in the footer. Suggested wording, short enough to sit under the headline:
We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. We do not accept payment for reviews or rankings. Learn more.
For a comparison table or a “best of” list where the reader may scroll past the top of the page, repeat a one line version directly above or below the table and next to any standalone buy button block:
Paid link. We may earn a commission from this retailer.
The FTC has specifically said that “affiliate link” or “commissionable link” on its own is not clear enough, because many readers do not know what those terms mean. Wording that names the payment works better, for example “We get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.”
2. Placement rules to follow
- Disclosure appears before the first affiliate link on the page, not after it.
- Disclosure is in normal body text size and colour contrast, not grey 10px text, and it is not hidden behind an accordion, a tooltip, or a hover state.
- Disclosure is visible on mobile without tapping “read more” or expanding anything.
- If a page has affiliate links far down the page, repeat the disclosure near them.
- A footer link to this page is fine as a supplement, but never as the only disclosure.
- Do not rely on a banner that disappears on scroll.
3. Technical items
- Apply rel=”sponsored nofollow” to affiliate outbound links. Google’s guidance treats affiliate links as paid links, and marking them correctly avoids a link scheme problem.
- Check the required Amazon Associates disclosure wording in your account. Amazon has its own contractual wording requirement that is stricter than the FTC’s general guidance.
- If you use a link cloaker or redirect plugin, make sure the cloaked link still carries the sponsored attribute and that the destination is obvious to the reader.
- Add this page to the site footer, to the sitemap, and to the internal link block used on every review.
- Decide whether you need a separate Privacy Policy note about affiliate cookies, and if you serve EU or UK visitors, whether your cookie consent banner covers affiliate tracking cookies.
4. Conflict to resolve before publishing
This page states that we do not describe research as hands-on testing. That conflicts with the existing buying guide meta titles that use the word “Tested” (Cigarette Smoke, Dust, Small Rooms) and with the older disclosure line that says commissions support “our independent testing.” Change those to “Researched” or “Real Specs,” and update the old disclosure line, before this page goes live. Publishing an honest methodology page next to a title that overstates what was done is the single fastest way to lose the trust this cluster is meant to build.
