General inquiries

We read everything. This is a small operation, so a reply usually takes 3 business days.

What we can help with

Questions about a specific product or a specific room. Tell us the room size in square feet, the ceiling height, what you are trying to remove (smoke, dust, pet dander, cooking odours, VOCs), and any noise or budget limits. For water, tell us whether you are on a city supply or a private well, what your water test or Consumer Confidence Report showed, and what problem you are solving (taste, hardness, lead, PFAS, sediment, bacteria).

Without those details any answer is guesswork, so the more you include, the more useful the reply will be.

Corrections. If something on this site is wrong, tell us and include the URL and, if possible, a source. We would rather be corrected than be wrong in public. Corrections are logged on the article itself with a date, as described in our Editorial Policy.

Suggestions for what to cover. Requests for a specific comparison, a product we have not covered, or a question our guides do not answer are genuinely useful and often become articles.

Broken links, layout problems, or accessibility issues. Please include your device and browser.

What we cannot help with

Medical advice. We cannot tell you whether an air purifier will help your asthma, your child’s allergies, or a specific respiratory condition. That is a conversation for a clinician who knows your history. We can explain what the research says about particle removal, and what it does not say.

Water test interpretation as a substitute for a lab. We can explain what a result means in general terms. We cannot tell you your water is safe. If you are on a private well, or you suspect lead, bacteria, arsenic, nitrates, or PFAS, get a certified laboratory test. Our guide on how to test your tap water at home explains the difference between a home test strip, a TDS meter, and a certified lab panel, and why a TDS meter tells you almost nothing about safety.

Warranty claims, returns, repairs, and shipping. We do not sell products and we are not affiliated with any manufacturer’s support department. Contact the retailer you bought from or the manufacturer directly.

Installation emergencies. A leaking reverse osmosis system, a burst line, or an electrical problem needs a licensed plumber or electrician, not an email to us.

For brands and PR teams

Please read this before pitching. It will save us both time.

We accept: paid guest posts, paid link insertions, link exchanges, pre written “expert quotes,”

But we do not provide fake sponsored posts disguised as editorial, or payment of any kind in exchange for a ranking, a rating, a badge, or the removal of criticism.

We do consider: product information, spec sheets, certification listings, test data, and firmware or filter change notices for products we already cover or plan to cover.

Review units: We do accept review units and keep it for a our future testing and review so that we can test it for a longer period and keep our data updated for users.

What we will ask you for. If you pitch a product, expect us to ask for the AHAM Verifide listing or the CARB certification number for an air purifier, and the NSF/ANSI or WQA certification listing with the exact model name as registered for a water product. “Tested to NSF standards” is not a certification, and we will say so in the article if that is all that exists. If the model is not in a certification database under the name you are selling it under, tell us that up front rather than letting us find out.

Corrections from brands. If we get a fact wrong about your product, send the correction with a source and we will fix it and log it. What we will not do is remove an accurate criticism, soften a verdict, or take down a comparison because a brand does not like where it finished.
